Are CBD-Infused Jelly Beans Right for You?

What’s in These CBD-Infused Jelly Beans?

CBD-infused jelly beans contain cannabidiol, an extract found in cannabis and hemp plants. They do not contain THC, the part of the cannabis plant that creates the “high.” According to Spectrum Confections’ founder, David Klein, the jelly beans are created to be as healthy as possible, even containing real fruit juice.

The beans come in 38 flavors, including strawberry cheesecake, mango and pina colada — and three varieties, including original, sugar-free and sour. Each candy contains 10ml of CBD oil, which means you control the dose.

What Are the Benefits of CBD Oil?

CBD oil has long been touted as a miracle natural cure-all. And it does seem to address a wide variety of physical, neurological and mental ailments. Studies have shown that CBD oil may:

  • Reduce stiffness, inflammation and pain
  • Reduce addictive compulsions and drug withdrawal symptoms
  • Treat seizures and two rare forms of epilepsy
  • Support cancer treatments by reducing side effects like nausea
  • Treat anxiety disorders
  • Slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease

As of right now, there is more anecdotal evidence to support some of these claims than there is formal research. The FDA does recognize the popularity of CBD, as well as the need for continued studies.

How Hot Is the CBD Oil Movement?

CBD oil is rapidly gaining popularity and is being infused in a number of products, including vape oil, pain-relief creams, patches, capsules and sweet treats. The market for CBD-infused products is worth billions, and it is expected to grow by leaps and bounds over the next several years. The CBD industry is largely unregulated at the moment, so be sure to do your research into product sources and additives before you buy.

Should you get in on the CBD movement? Only you and your doctor can decide if the compound is right for you. You should be aware that it may interfere with some meds or conditions so do your research before deciding. But if the lights from the doc are green, then maybe jelly beans just got a lot more interesting.
